Alissa Pili Signs 7-Day Contract with LA Sparks, Gets Second Shot to Make an Impact in the WNBA

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Sparks have signed forward Alissa Pili to a 7-day contract, giving the former All-American a second chance to showcase her game at the professional level.

Pili began the 2024 season with the Minnesota Lynx, who selected her 8th overall in this year’s WNBA Draft. She appeared in five games before being waived, but now gets another opportunity to prove herself—this time in Los Angeles.

Known for her elite footwork, efficient scoring, and toughness in the paint, Pili dominated at the University of Utah, where she averaged over 20 points per game and shot 54% from the field during her senior year. A two-time All-Pac-12 First Team selection and All-American, Pili brings size, skill, and versatility to a Sparks team currently navigating injuries and rotation shifts.

Standing at 6’2”, Pili is more than just a strong interior presence—she can step out and hit the three, create mismatches in transition, and defend multiple positions. Her game is built for the modern W, and this 7-day contract gives her the window to prove it.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, with proud Samoan heritage, Pili has already inspired a generation of young athletes from underrepresented communities. Now, she’s fighting to carve out a permanent role in the league.

For the Sparks, it’s a smart pickup. For Pili, it’s another chance to show she belongs.
