If you’re a Texans fan, this is the kind of news you want to see during training camp: keep the guys who can play.

The Houston Texans are keeping linebacker Henry To’oTo’o in the building. Houston has agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract extension with To’oTo’o, keeping the fourth-year linebacker under contract through the 2028 season. The Texans officially announced the extension Friday.

For To’oTo’o, the new deal is another major step in a journey that began in Sacramento, California. The 25-year-old is of Tongan and Samoan descent and has steadily developed into an important piece of Houston’s defense since the Texans selected him in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

And Houston has gotten plenty of production out of him.

To’oTo’o has recorded 200 tackles over the past two seasons, including a team-leading 105 tackles in 2024. He followed that up with 95 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 2025. Through his first three seasons, he has totaled 261 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. His consistency has made him an important part of a Texans defense that has continued to establish itself as one of the league’s better units. Head coach DeMeco Ryans has also seen To’oTo’o’s growth firsthand. Speaking about the extension, Ryans pointed back to To’oTo’o’s rookie season and remembered how the young linebacker continued to make plays during training camp.

The new contract is also another example of the Texans rewarding players they believe are becoming foundational pieces of their roster. To’oTo’o now joins several key Houston defenders who have received significant contract commitments from the organization. For the Texans, it is a move that provides stability at linebacker and keeps a young, productive defender in Houston. For To’oTo’o, it is a well-earned reward for the work that got him here.

From Sacramento to Alabama, from a fifth-round draft pick to a key piece of the Texans defense, Henry To’oTo’o is officially here to stay.
