The Tongan defensive lineman is back on San Francisco’s active roster after rejoining the team’s practice squad earlier this week.
Viliami Fehoko Jr. is getting another opportunity to make his mark with the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers promoted the defensive lineman from their practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Sept. 26, ahead of Sunday’s Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals at Levi’s Stadium. The move comes just three days after San Francisco re-signed Fehoko to its practice squad on Sept. 23. He originally signed a one-year deal with the 49ers in August before being waived during the team’s initial 53-man roster moves on Aug. 30.
Fehoko’s promotion comes as the 49ers continue to navigate injuries along the defensive line. San Francisco placed defensive lineman C.J. West on injured reserve earlier this month, while the team also placed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson on injured reserve Saturday, creating a spot for Fehoko on the active roster.
