A Giant Among Giants: Noah Fifita’s Senior Season at Arizona

Noah Fifita at a glance — Position: Quarterback · Height: 5-foot-10 · Class: Senior (2026) · School: University of Arizona · Hometown: Huntington Beach, CA · High School: Servite (Anaheim) · Heritage: Tongan and Filipino · 2025: 3,228 passing yards, 29 TDs, First-Team All-Big 12, 9-4 record

In football, people have always been fascinated by measurements.

How tall is he?
How much does he weigh?
How fast does he run?

Yet the greatest measurement has never been found on a tape measure.
It is found in a competitor’s heart.

Listed at just 5-foot-10, Arizona Wildcats quarterback Noah Malakai Fifita has spent his career proving that football greatness isn’t reserved for the tallest player on the field.

Instead, it belongs to the player who prepares, competes, leads, and delivers when the lights shine brightest.

Last season, Fifita earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors, becoming the conference’s top quarterback after throwing for 3,228 yards and 29 touchdowns while leading Arizona to a 9-4 season. Entering his senior year, he has once again been recognized as the Preseason All-Big 12 Quarterback, a testament to the respect he has earned from coaches, media, and opponents throughout the conference.

The Wildcats went 9-4 last Season earning a Holiday Bowl Bid coming up short against a top ACC contender SMU 19-24, who finished 9-4 in 2025 as well. Two games in conference play negated their opportunity for double a digit season in wins. A double overtime loss versus then ranked number #18 BYU 27 to 33. Then losing the very next week at Houston 28-31. The program seems to be on the verge of a breakthrough in 2026, which I will be eagerly watching to see. They are led by one of my favorites in college football, Brent Brennan, who’s entering his third year at the helm as head football coach.

All About Family

Our family has had the privilege of following Noah’s journey for more than two years, dating back to when our son, Jr. Tuivai, began playing quarterback at the 12U level.
In the summer of 2025, we had the opportunity to visit the Fifita family during an OC Buckeyes practice.
What impressed us wasn’t Noah’s arm talent, accuracy, or football IQ.

Those qualities are obvious to anyone who watches him play.

What left the greatest impression was the family.

Noah, his father, and their entire family welcomed us with humility, kindness, and in Polynesia what is widely known as Aloha, and what we call Ofa-Love in Tongan and it was so genuine. They treated everyone with respect, generously shared their time, and represented their faith, family, and Tongan/Filipino Vibes with authenticity.

Character always reveals itself when no cameras are rolling.

The Fifita family is as genuine as they come.

That authenticity is one of the many reasons so many throughout the Football/Filipino/Polynesian community proudly cheer for Noah—not simply because of what he accomplishes on Saturdays, but because of who he is every day.

More Than a Quarterback

Statistics tell part of Noah’s story.
Leadership tells the rest.
Great quarterbacks throw touchdowns.
Elite quarterbacks elevate entire programs.

Noah possesses the rare ability to make everyone around him better.

His poise under pressure, football intelligence, unwavering confidence, and servant leadership have helped elevate Arizona football while inspiring teammates to believe in something greater than themselves.

In an era when college football is constantly changing, Noah has become a steady presence—a leader his teammates trust and a competitor his opponents respect. His stats and abilities. I’m sure he has garnered possibilities to go elsewhere, especially with the coaching change that happened with the previous Head Coach took the University of Washington job.

Noah has stayed loyal and committed to his commitment. In this day and age of NIL and transfer portal that is very unique.

A Family Legacy Continues in Tucson

Behind every great athlete is a family that invested countless hours, prayers, sacrifices, and unwavering belief.

Noah is the son of Les and Winnona Fifita, whose commitment to faith, family, and football has helped shape one of college football’s premier leaders.

The Fifita legacy at the University of Arizona is only beginning.
His younger brother, Dash Fifita, arrives in Tucson after helping lead Santa Margarita Catholic High School to the CIF Open Division State Championship. One of California’s premier defensive players, Dash earned numerous postseason honors before joining the Wildcats as a linebacker.
Watching two brothers represent their family, their university, and their heritage together is something special.

It reminds us that excellence is rarely accidental.

It is cultivated at home.

Strengthened through faith.

Refined through sacrifice.

Passed from one generation to the next.

Proudly Tongan. Proudly Filipino.
For those of us throughout the Polynesian community, Noah’s story carries even greater significance.
Proudly representing his Tongan and Filipino heritage, Noah continues a growing tradition of Pacific Island athletes making an impact far beyond the football field.

Every completion.
Every comeback.
Every victory.

Represents another young Polynesian seeing what is possible.
Representation matters.

Young boys and girls throughout Tonga, the Philippines, Hawaiʻi, California, Arizona, and Polynesian communities around the world now have someone who reminds them that greatness isn’t confined by stereotypes or physical measurements.

Your roots are not your limitation.
They are your foundation.

Leadership Beyond the Numbers
Football has always rewarded preparation over popularity.

Noah’s success reminds us that leadership isn’t about commanding attention.

It’s about earning trust.
It’s about consistency when no one is watching.

It’s about responding to adversity without losing confidence.

Those qualities don’t appear on a stat sheet.

Yet they are precisely what separates good players from unforgettable leaders.

The Island City Media Group Perspective

At Island City Media Group, our mission extends far beyond reporting scores and statistics.

We exist to celebrate Polynesian Excellence in Life, Leadership, Business, and Sports.

Our stories aren’t simply about touchdowns.

They’re about character.
They’re about culture.
They’re about families whose sacrifices create opportunities for future generations.

Noah Fifita represents all of those things.

As he enters his senior season, he carries more than the hopes of Arizona football.

He carries the pride of communities who see themselves reflected in his journey.

Whether the next chapter leads to championships, the NFL, or both, one truth has already been established.

Some athletes are measured by inches.

The truly unforgettable ones are measured by impact.

Noah Fifita may be shorter than many quarterbacks he’ll share the same field with.

But on Saturdays…
He remains a giant on the football field.

Coach V’s Final Word
“Never allow someone else’s measurement of you to become the limit of who God created you to be. Giants aren’t always the tallest—they’re the ones whose courage, preparation, and leadership stand tallest when the moment demands it.”

Because behind every great Polynesian athlete is a greater story worth telling.
