Born in Wellington, New Zealand, and of proud Samoan heritage, Nonu is celebrated as one of rugby’s greatest centers. Over his two-decade career, he dominated Super Rugby and helped the All Blacks clinch back-to-back World Cup titles in 2011 and 2015. His later years saw him bringing world-class experience to Major League Rugby, where he made an indelible mark with San Diego Legion.

A natural leader, Nonu has captained multiple teams throughout his career, inspiring teammates with his dedication and vision. Now, he channels that same energy into shaping the future of the sport in America.

“I’m honored to take this next step with the San Diego Legion,” said Nonu. “This club and its fans have meant a great deal to me during my time as a player. I believe in the vision of growing rugby in the United States, and I’m excited to contribute to the future of the Legion both on and off the field.”
